Welcome to St. James Day School
St. James Episcopal Day School serves children ages 12 months to 5 years. These years, from birth to five, are recognized as critical in fostering life-long learning and in supporting children capable of mastering language, literacy and realationships. Our curriculum reflects the needs of the whole child; that is the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development of each child.
We teach to both the typical developmental level of each age group and to the individual developmental level of each child. We believe that development is influenced by relationships between home and school and that the health of each child, cultural influences in the home, and beliefs about education within our community all influence a child's learning. We strive to reflect the diversity of our students by valuing differences of language, beliefs, and culture within our classrooms and inviting our community to share resources. St. James is committed to supporting each child's spiritual development.
We honor values of patience, respect, tolerance and understanding. As an Episcopal school, we support all children, regardless of ability, origin or religion. An education at St. James is a time for each child to be embraced as an individual and valued as a contributing important member of our family. |

Mother's Day Out & Two year old Classes
These programs at St. James are designed to meet the developmental needs of your child in a warm, caring and fun place. We want to help each child meet new friends and adapt to new situations. Interacting and sharing with their peers is another important part of our program.
Three year old Classes
Our 3-year old program offers both a three day (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday) option or a five day (Monday through Friday) class. Our program is based on a unit approach with emphasis on pre-readiness activities appropriate to each child's development level.
Four year old/Pre-K Classes
The curriculum goals for the Pre-K program at St. James Episcopal Day School provide experience that meets child's needs and stimulate learning in all developmental areas- physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. We keep in mind that each child is unique having individual patterns and timing of growth and development. These different levels of ability, development, and learning styles are expected, accepted, and respected. Each child is expected to be physically and mentally active, choosing from among activities the teacher sets up or the child spontaneously initiates. These choices include dramatic play, blocks, science, math games, puzzles, books, recordings, art and music. Each child develops understanding about their world through observation and interacting with people and objects. They learn to seek solutions to concrete problems.
