EVENSONG ON JULY 16th: There will be a service of Evensong (sung evening prayer) on July 16th at 6:00 p.m. We will gather in the chancel (pews that face each other in front of the high altar). The congregation will sing all hymns and responses. Fr. Mike will officiate. The service will be Rite II. If you’re interested in reviewing the music beforehand, please talk to Fr. Mike.

HOME COMMUNION: July 17th hosted by Drew and Kelly Texada at their home, 5205 St. Germain Boulevard, in Alexandria. The hosts will provide the entrée and drinks, and we are asked to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to complete the meal. Worship and fellowship will begin at 6:00 p.m.

MANY THANKS to Amy Norton for the toys donated to the nursery. They are certainly a most welcome addition.

SWEET DREAMS DRIVE was a HUGE success! 45 sets of sheets and 4 sets of pillowcases were collected. Thanks to ALL who so generously donated linens, and thanks to all volunteers from the committee for their time in delivering the linens to Hope House, Olive House, and Turning Point.

SUMMER SUNDAY ADULT FORUM with Fr. Fred…the Adult Forum will ask the question: Is my God big enough? How we answer this question will unfold during a four week study of the Old Testament book of Jonah. Bring your favorite Bible, invite a friend, and come ready to engage the Holy Scripture with one another. Sunday mornings, 9:15 AM, in the Parlor off the Parish Hall. See you then, Fr. Fred

MISSING GENERATION MINISTRY (MGM): We will be studying C.S. Lewis’ Great Divorce in the Walker building at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. The class will be lead by Fr. Mike, and discussion will focus on issues relevant to young adults and young families. All are invited: reaching and ministering to the missing generations is a church wide effort that will have its greatest effect if practiced by everyone. So if you enjoy C.S. Lewis and/or you’re interested in building a community to reach un-churched and under-churched young adults, then please come.

SEE THE LIGHT SHINE THROUGH our children as they grow in their knowledge of God’s love for them. Come and teach them yourself. Volunteers needed for Sunday school teachers. Please contact Emily Baker at 664-1628, if you wish to travel this unique journey with our children this fall.

KROGER NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR DONATION FUND: The Kroger Share Card Program has ended and St. James’ card members purchased $107,849.30 at Kroger’s this past year, totaling $1,078.49 in profit, with 25% of this amount going to the St. James Day School. Kroger has implemented a new program, Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation Program. You no longer have to use a card. Simply pick up a letter with the St. James barcode on the bottom, present your KrogerPlus card to the cashier along with the letter. The cashier will scan both and St. James will be attached to your KrogerPlus card. Every time you shop at Kroger and use your KrogerPlus card, Kroger will donate a percentage of your eligible purchases to the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation fund. At the end of each quarter, St. James will receive a percentage of this fund. Once a card is scanned with the barcode of St. James, it will be active for the remainder of the program year. You can also go to: http://www.krogerneighbortoneighbor.com/pdf/10000080808.pdf
and print out a letter that you will take to Kroger the next time you go shopping.

UNITED THANK OFFERING: How many times have you said, "Please God help me!" during the day? When someone close to us is in trouble, or a situation arises which seems beyond our ability to cope, we turn to God for help. God is present in times of trouble and we can call upon His name with confidence. Major and minor miracles happen every day. How many times have you remembered to say "Thank you, God"? More than 100 years ago, the women of the Episcopal Church devised a simple way of expressing their gratitude for the blessings of each day through the United Thank Offering. Our Spring Ingathering is now being collected. It is not too late to express your thanksgivings by helping to meet mission and ministry needs around the world. Remember the words of Jesus, who said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35

PARISH LIFE COMMITTEE: The Parish Life Committee would love to hear from you. We welcome anyone who like to join the committee, attend a meeting to share ideas or would like to assist in any way. Please contact the church office or Greg Whittington for further information.
