Serve St. James Episcopal Church and School

Ministries at St. James include many teams, committees, and organizations. Our ministries work to maintain the life of the church and mission work in the central Louisiana community.

  • The Altar Guild is blessed with a wonderful group of people who freely give of their time and energy to see that the altars of St. James and the sacred vessels, linens, flowers and vestments are always ready for the multitude of services throughout the year.

  • The Music Ministry at St. James provides music rooted in the Anglican tradition. Its purpose is to enrich the corporate worship by the performance of outstanding choral and organ music and to provide encouragement for the people's participation.

  • This ministry is charged with assisting the Rector and Vestry in assessing the needs of the Parish regarding Adult Christian Formation, organizing and implementing offerings during the Program Year, and providing intentional follow-up and support for recently Baptized, Confirmed, Received & Reaffirmed adults.

  • The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is a busy group at St. James. They conduct events throughout the year to benefit both St. James and the community of Central Louisiana. From "kitchen showers", to luncheons, to receptions, these ladies add style to doing ministry.

  • The Eucharistic Ministry includes Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors, Chalice Bearers, Lectors, Acolytes, Ushers, and Oblationers.

  • The Finance Committee serves as a source of contact and advice to the Vestry by receiving the monthly financial statements.

  • The mission of the Greeters Ministry at St. James is to extend God's love and welcome those who enter our doors each Sunday.

  • The Memorial and Fine Arts Committee works to carry out requested memorials and to maintain the upkeep of all St. James' beautiful artwork.

  • The St. James Mission Committee meets on an as needed basis in order to coordinate projects benefiting those in need in our community and fulfilling the mission of St. James by sharing Christ, doing good works, and spreading the good news. Our missional work is primarily beyond our walls but it begins within our walls.

  • The Mount Olivet Property Committee oversees the events and maintenance of St. James' Mount Olivet Cemetery.

  • Just completing the fifteenth year, St. James helps at-risk Rugg Elementary School third grade students improve their reading skills.
