 Stewardship Messages
These weekly messages are brought to you by the Vestry of St. James Episcopal Church and School.
Friday, 03 August 2012

I was reading last week’s stewardship message and was filled with a sense of pride that our youth have learned the importance of stewardship. Two weeks before, I was equally impressed by a young mother who has begun to teach her one year old son about giving. On the boy’s birthday, all the contents that were placed in the boy’s piggy bank over the past year were donated to the church. What a wonderful (albeit relatively small) way to thank God for all his blessings! The mother explained that by making the practice a tradition, she hopes to instill a natural inclination towards thanksgiving and stewardship. I suppose I also learned that while stewardship is not about money, it is never too early to teach this important lesson, especially by modeling the behavior.
Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity… ~ Titus 2:7
