What to Expect - When you visit St. James
Visiting a new church can be a leap of faith on many levels, even for people who've been going to church for a long time. You may have questions like the following; we hope our answers are helpful to you:
  • Will anyone talk to me?
You should be greeted as you enter the church and meet others before you leave; we are a welcoming congregation.
  • Will too many people talk to me?
       Only you can answer that.
  • Will it be easy to leave if I don't enjoy it?
You may leave at any time, but we hope you will be a part of the entire service.
  • Will they ask me for money?
No one will ask you for money.  A free will offering is a part of the service but the choice is yours.
  • Will it be ok if my kids can't sit still or be quiet the entire service?
Children are a blessing to all of us.  Jesus said "Let the little children come to Me" - See Luke 18:15-17
  • How should I dress?
Comfortably.  Some dress up, some dress casually.
  • Will there be anyone there my own age?
The ages of those who worship vary significantly.
  • Does it matter if I'm an Episcopalian?
All are welcome at St. James.
  • Am I welcome if I don't believe?
You are very welcome at St. James if you don't believe.
Whether you've never been to church before, or you are a lifelong church goer, we want you to feel comfortable at St. James; and we hope you're experience will be stress free, engaging, and meaningful.  Please visit us.  We are a church and school of hope!
